Mental Health refers to one's psychological, cognitive, behavioral, emotional and social well-being. Below are some helpful mental health terms to know and their meaning. 

  • Process of providing treatment for psychological, social, physical, and social needs
  • Service, treatment or procedures to diagnose, maintain, or treat an individual's mental health or mental conditions
  • Delivery of clinical services to address a mental health disorder
  • Increases understanding of Mental Health
  • An ongoing effort to reduce the stigma surrounding mental illness and mental health conditions
  • Acceptance and love rather than judgment and shame
  • Increases the chance for early intervention and prevention
  • Ensuring access to care, easing the burden of navigating the healthcare system, mobilizing resources, influencing health policies, and creating system change
  • Explaining mental health information to clients and helping them make informed decisions
  • Researching current mental health policies and learning how proposed policy changes will affect people with mental health issues
  • Intervening to optimize positive mental health by addressing determinants of positive mental health before a problem is identified
  • Enhancing an individual's ability to achieve developmentally appropriate tasks

The Way Home Partnership

The Way Home is a collaborative homeless response system dedicated to preventing and ending homelessness in the Houston region. The Way Home brings together over 100 partners, including homeless service agencies, local governments, public housing authorities, the Veterans Affairs office, and various nonprofits and community stakeholders across Harris, Fort Bend, and Montgomery counties, Texas. Together, these partners strive to minimize homelessness, ensuring it is infrequent, brief, and does not reoccur in our community.  We are proud to be a partner of  The Way Home.

  TEXAS HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES COMMISSION PARTNERSHIP

We are pleased to announce that D. Hope Miller Foundation is officially a Community Partner with the Texas Health and Human Service Commission. This partnership increases communities' access to state benefit programs such as SNAP, TANF, Medicaid, Children's Medicaid, Chip and Healthy Texas Women Medicaid. 2-1-1 is the Texas Information and Referral Network used to collect, organize, and distribute comprehensive and accurate information on government and non-profit social services available to Texas residents. To keep consistently delivering excellent experiences to our clients at no cost, our services are provided by APPOINTMENT ONLY! Absolutely no walk-ins. We strive to provide reliable resources, advocacy, and case management that exceed our client's expectations. Appointments can be made online or by calling our office.
