Diachonae Hope Miller

Her Story....

Diachonae Hope Miller was born on May 11, 1987. During her adolescent years, she was diagnosed with multiple mental disorders. With the support of therapy and medication, her mother effectively managed and controlled her symptoms.

In 2009, Diachonae faced a life-altering event—an unimaginable hit-and-run accident left her dragged 40 feet, paralyzed, and fighting for survival with a severe brain injury. She had to relearn basic life skills, enduring profound trauma on top of the challenges from her childhood. Picture a vibrant young person suddenly waking up in an ICU, unable to walk, talk, or recall what happened—this was Diachonae's stark reality.

Over the next decade following the accident, Diachonae endured over 30 major surgeries and countless hospitalizations. Each medical setback compounded her anger and frustration. Sadly, her experiences in hospitals were often marred by mistreatment from staff unfamiliar with or indifferent to her mental health needs. Despite facing mistreatment and misunderstanding from hospital staff due to her mental health challenges, Diachonae's spirit remained strong.

Diachonae later underwent separate amputations of both legs, adding to her physical pain, grief, and emotional turmoil. Despite feeling hurt, confused, and angry, she maintained a brave face, often lighting up the room with her laughter, singing, and jokes.

In 2019, Diachonae sadly lost her lifelong battle with mental illness. She was more than a sister to me—her life and legacy inspired the creation of the D. Hope Miller Foundation. Through this foundation, we ensure that Diachonae's name lives on, sharing her story with the world. I've committed to honor her memory by dedicating my life to impacting, saving, and transforming lives. Join me in celebrating her legacy through our work at the foundation, where her spirit shines on forever
